The situation is as follows:
We set up a pool in our backyard. It is nothing huge, a 60 dollar blue pool from Rite Aid. (At least I think that is what she- My sister-in-law- Paid for it). We filled it with water from the creek which runs along the house and feeds into the river. Said river is less than 500 feet away mind you. We treated the pool so that the water was safe. And finally we have enjoyed this pool for two weeks roughly with no issues.
My husband and I come out of the house a few days ago and the bottom of the pool is Algae Green. On top of that there are frog eggs floating amongst the dead bees that have found their way into the water. Not just one drop of frog eggs mind you but 5 good sized splotches.
We have a swampy area near the house and when we moved in and Spring began to creep up I commented on the incredibly loud Frogs On Steroids coming from that swampy area. Why then, did it not occur to me that a pool filled with water might attract them as well? Maybe I had Frog Blinders on. Maybe I was thinking the chlorine would not taste so good. Either way I was wrong and I am now watching a bucket fool of these baby Frogs on Steroids began to take shape. I really have no idea what I plan to do after they are born, though I will probably dump them in the creek where they should be anyway.
Stay tuned for more tales of the Tadpoles.....
